Burning Candles Safely

When burning candles or incense, it is always a good idea to use caution and accepted safety measures. Accidents can happen to anyone at any time. It is wise to be careful, especially with open flames or flammable products. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in fire hazard or injury. Here are some safety tips to follow so that accidents are far less likely:

1.) NEVER leave a candle burning unattended. If you plan on leaving the house or leaving the room for a period of time, make sure that all flames are carefully extinguished.

2.) As with any flammable or potentially dangerous product, keep out of reach of children and pets.

3.) Never burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time.

4.) Only burn candles on heat resistant surfaces, and keep any flammable items or things that can melt safely away from the flame.

5.) Keep wick trimmed to 1/4" to prevent smoke and prolong burning.

6.) Do not handle or move candles when lit.

7.) Keep candles away from drafts.

8.) When 1/2" of wax remains at the bottom of the candle, discontinue use.
